What is Proxemics?

Proxemics is the study of human spatial relationships and how people unconsciously structure the space around them. Coined by anthropologist Edward T. Hall in 1963, it examines how we maintain personal space, how crowds form naturally, and how cultural factors influence spatial behavior.

In architectural visualization, understanding proxemics is crucial for creating believable renders. Humans instantly recognize when a populated scene feels "wrong" – when people are too close, too evenly distributed, or placed in unnatural positions.
